George Edwards: Serving His Country, Building His Future

At the tender age of 17, George Edwards made a life-changing decision—he enlisted in the United States Army. While many of his peers were still navigating high school, George chose the path of service, discipline, and sacrifice. His motivation was clear: he wanted to earn a college education and create a future built on opportunity.

George entered the Army already distinguished as the valedictorian of his graduating class, proving early on that he valued hard work, discipline, and excellence. The Army strengthened those qualities.

During his military career, George became a sergeant of a team of communications specialists and as a military policeman, where he was entrusted with responsibility, precision, and leadership under pressure. He carried out several classified assignments, demonstrating the Army’s confidence in his character, reliability, and discretion. These experiences shaped him into a leader who understood both accountability and service at the highest level.

The lessons George gained in the Army never left him. He learned resilience, discipline, and the importance of standing with courage in the face of challenges. After completing his service, George pursued his college education and built a successful career at Exxon Mobil as a Certified Public Accountant. But he never forgot the foundation the Army gave him.

That same sense of duty guided George as a community leader, a school board trustee, and now as a candidate once again for Cy-Fair ISD. His journey from valedictorian, to sergeant and military policeman with classified assignments, to community leader reflects the values that make Cy-Fair strong.
