George Edwards: Restoring High Standards for Every Student
During his service on the Cy-Fair ISD Board of Trustees from 1995 to 1998, George Edwards proudly participated in the creation of the original “Portrait of a Cy-Fair Graduate.” This was a promise to parents and the community from Cy-Fair ISD that every student would graduate with the ability to read, write, do math, and contribute to society as productive citizens.
George fought to eliminate watered-down classes because he believed that lowering expectations denied children the education they deserved. He demanded that Cy-Fair students be prepared for real-world success, whether that meant higher education, skilled trades, or military service.
Unfortunately, in recent years, the school board has weakened these commitments. Standards have been watered down and accountability has diminished. George knows that Cy-Fair’s families and children deserve better.
As trustee, George Edwards will fight to restore:
George Edwards understands that strong schools mean strong communities. By raising standards, protecting families, and supporting academic achievement, he will help ensure that Cy-Fair continues to thrive for generations to come.
